Job Description
I. JOB SUMMARY:
Our LPN Unit Managers oversee staff performance on a daily basis, including RN Supervisors, LPN Team Leaders, and CNAs, acting as a resource to provide coaching and corrective action as needed. Works alongside other LPN/RN Unit Managers to provide the most dedicated leadership and care that maintains Weinberg Campus's standardsII. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Act as a team leader assuring completion of all resident care needs for his/her team.
- Coordinate, assist, or direct admission, transfer & discharge of residents.
- Coordinate, assist, or direct shift reporting.
- Manage, coordinate, assist, or direct passing medication, completing treatments, evaluations, and all required documentation.
- Assist physician as needed, including but not limited to, making rounds, taking and transcribing orders.
- Keep in close communication with nursing staff including DON, ADON, RN Supervisors, RN Charge Nurse, LPN Team Leaders and CNAs.
- Provide individualized supportive care to the residents and their families.
- Work cooperatively as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.
- Reads, enforces and models facility policies and procedures.
- Participates in and promotes staff development and training. Orients staff as needed.
- Monitor staff and educates them as needed in infection control procedures.
- Evaluation of staff performance and recommends and implements correction action plans as necessary.
- Participate in the planning, implementation and continuing evaluation of department.
- Maintain competence through continuing education in geriatrics to provide a current approach in orientation and implementation of nursing care to the aged.
- Attends mandatory in-services as per policy.
- Completes other duties as assigned by management.
- Completes corresponding tasks and responsibilities within the LPN scope of practice.
III. POSITION SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Assist in completing performance evaluations.
- Attends nurses meetings and in-services.
- Maintain competence through continuing education in geriatrics to provide a current approach in orientation and implementation of nursing care to the aged.
- WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be empathetic and sensitive towards and able to work with the geriatric population.
- Chance of exposure to human bodily fluids.
- PERSONAL OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to speak, read and write the predominant language of the residents, English.
- Position requires bending, stooping, pushing, pulling.
- Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
- High chance of exposure to human bodily fluids.
- Working with the elderly requires the need to respect the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of all residents.
- EDUCATION:
- Graduate of an accredited LPN program (required).
- Current LPN License (required).
- EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) Years of Nursing Experience (required)
- One (1) Year working with the frail or elderly (preferred)
